The Israel Hour

The continual demonization of Israel and its people that we witness day in day out on “Comment is Free” and in the MSM in general obscures from view the true nature of how vibrant and progressive Israeli society really is. One way in which we can gain an insight into a different side of Israeli society is through the wide range of music that such a small country is able to generate including the pop of Shiri Maimon, the eclectic sounds of Idan Raichel, the rap of Subliminal, the dulcet tones of Achinoam Nini and the trademark “Mizrachi” sounds of Eyal Golan and Sarit Hadad.
In this vein, I wanted to give a hearty (and completely off-topic) recommendation to the Israel Hour program which you may or may not be aware of.
The Israel Hour is a weekly radio show run from a local New Jersey radio station every Sunday at 11am Eastern Time on 88.7 WRSU-FM. The great thing about the Israel Hour, besides the fact that they play one solid hour of quality Israeli music (and one of the presenters is a big Mashina fan!) is that they maintain an updated archive of the recordings of their prior shows so that if you like me are unable to catch the live show you can enjoy their treasure trove of recordings at the time of your choosing. If you’re an Israeli music fan, be sure to check it out.

On that note let me leave you with a timeless classic by David Broza (in his younger days) that expresses our eternal hope for a brighter future.
