Israel should demand justice through an international investigation of the Marmara affair

As if it was not enough for Israel to mishandle the Marmara affair from a PR point of view up to this point, the geniuses who do this sort of thing in Israel are about to make an even bigger mistake by opposing an international enquiry. Rather than opposing it, they should direct it into a channel that allows Israel to show its side of the story, which is simply a well-documented truth.
The Internet is awash with video clips taken by the passengers and terrorist on the Marmara that clearly show their preparations for aggression against Israel. The video clips filmed from Israel’s helicopters and ships that show the vicious assault on the Israeli commandos are racking up unheard of numbers of viewings across the world. Israel has the weapons the terrorists used; it has the cameras they used to film themselves preparing to attack the Israeli commandos and what they filmed. It has video of an Israeli soldier being bludgeoned and stabbed by a “humanitarian activist” and video of the firefight on the deck of the Marmara.
There is enough evidence available to convict the terrorists a dozen times over and to show Turkey’s provocative complicity.
So I suggest that Israel embrace the evidence, and call for a thorough investigation by representatives of the US, France, Britain, and Russia, with Tony Blair, the Quartet’s special envoy, as the chief investigator. Having watched the videos, seen the pictures from Israel TV, listened to the absurd accusations of the Arabs on board and their fellow travelers, I, for one, have no doubt about the findings. Even if Russia acts in a negative fashion, I am confident that a report from the US, France, and Britain will exonerate Israel completely, albeit with the obligatory tut-tut over the loss of life.
If there is someone from Israel’s Foreign Office, or Prime Minister’s office, or an embassy somewhere, reading this – please think about what I am saying and act on it. Israel has the opportunity to turn the tables on its accusers in this propaganda war by simply allowing the truth that is already widely available to be codified into a formal report. It will be damning for Turkey, IHH, and “Free Gaza Now”, and, finally, a major public relations coup for Israel.
