September is the 37th anniversary of the Munich Massacre – when members of the Israeli Olympic team, in Munich, were taken hostage and eventually murdered by the terrorist group Black September. Black September is affiliated with Fatah, founded by that organization’s leaders in response to criticism that they had become too moderate. Indeed, members of Black September acknowledged that Yasser Arafat’s Fatah organization endorsed the operation.
By the end of the ordeal, the terrorists had killed 11 Israeli athletes and coaches.
