More “Nakba Day” inspired violence erupts in Israel. Hamas leader calls for the “end of the Zionist project”

More “Nakba Day” inspired violence has been breaking out throughout Israel and along the Gaza and Syrian borders.

The IDF was engaged in a firefight this afternoon with dozens of Syrians who attempted to storm across the Israeli border, in the Golan community of Majdal Shams.  There are reports of  between 10-20 injured and one possible fatality.

Hundreds of police officers were dispatched to the region following the incident to maintain order.

Also,  IDF forces fired at a Palestinian man who was apparently trying to place an explosive device in the northern Gaza Strip near Kibbutz Nahal Oz.

And, in another incident soldiers acted to prevent several Palestinians from crossing the border fence near the Erez crossing.

Hamas Prime Minister in Gaza Ismail Haniyeh, in a speech to up to 10,000 Muslim worshippers Sunday marked the occasion of “Nakba Day” this year by expressing “great hope of bringing to an end the Zionist project in Palestine.”
