A few days ago, in this post, we remarked on the BBC’s promotion of the erroneous notion of “1967 borders”.
In one of several articles appearing in the BBC News website’s Middle East section relating to the November 29th UN vote to afford non-member observer status to the Palestinians – entitled “Palestinian UN status vote more than symbolic?” – we find the same mistake being repeated, but with the synonym “boundaries” instead of “borders”.
The use of a synonym does not constitute the correction of a mistake – as BBC editors entrusted with the adherence to Editorial Guidelines on accuracy should know.
