Daily Mail readers targeted, as spree of bad headline writing continues

CAMERA has been continually updating a popular post on the recent “wave” of headline fails which have “relied on reportorial smoke and mirrors to obscure Palestinian terror attacks and even recast terrorists as victims of arbitrary Israeli violence.”

We’ve documented several examples of such obfuscation (during the recent Arab terror wave) at The Independent, Guardian and Telegraph.

Today, we noticed this at the Daily Mail:

headline

You’d have to pay attention to the strapline and read the rest of the article very carefully – paying attention to the final few paragraphs – to realize that two of the Palestinians in question were “shot dead” after trying to murder Israelis. The other Palestinian was reportedly killed during clashes with Israeli soldiers.

Media monitoring experts have expressed skepticism when asked if the month-long upsurge in bad headline writing will soon subside.
