Abu Dhabi crown prince invites Bennett for UAE state visit

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett on Tuesday received an official invitation from Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan to visit the United Arab Emirates in what will be the first state visit of an Israeli premier in the Persian Gulf country.

Saudi textbooks show dramatic improvement in depictions of Jews — study

Saudi Arabian textbooks showed significant improvement in 2021 in their treatment of non-Muslims and of violence in the name of Islam, according to a study by an Israel-based research organization.

The removal of explicitly antisemitic and anti-Christian material is part of a trend of moderation in Saudi schools, said the IMPACT-se report titled “A Further Step Forward: Review of Changes and Remaining Problematic Content in Saudi Textbooks 2021–22,” released in late September.

First official EgyptAir flight lands at Israel airport

Egypt’s national carrier Sunday made its first official direct flight to Israel since the two countries signed an historic 1979 peace treaty as an EgyptAir jet landed at Tel Aviv´s Ben Gurion Airport.

The airline’s affiliate, AirSinai, has for decades operated flights to Israel without the company logo, out of fear of public backlash. The national carrier will now run three weekly flights between Cairo and Tel Aviv with the EgyptAir markings.

Israel claimed a diplomatic victory on Wednesday, as 34 countries, including over a dozen in the final hours, openly boycotted a United Nations conference marking the 20th anniversary of the World Conference Against Racism in Durban.

The boycott, which included a number of world powers and even, at the last minute, Poland — which currently is at severe odds with Israel’s government — was the result of a focused, intensive year-long campaign spanning two Israeli and American governments, and brought to bear using the full weight of Washington and Jerusalem.

Florida moves to divest from Ben & Jerry’s over Israel stance

Florida announced on Wednesday it would end its financial ties with ice cream giant Ben & Jerry’s and its parent company, Unilever PLC, following the former’s decision to cease marketing its products in Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

Ash Williams, executive director and chief investment officer of the State Board of Administration, was quoted Tuesday by the Miami Herald as saying he anticipated Unilever will be added to what is known as Florida’s list of “scrutinized companies that boycott Israel,” prohibiting state investments and contracts with the companies.

Ambassadors from Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco and the United States took the stage to recount the dramatic steps that led to the creation of the historic Abraham Accords normalization agreement, and each of their respective nations’ vision for further peace and cooperation.

Wednesday marks the one-year anniversary of the signing of the accords between Israel, the UAE and Bahrain on the White House lawn.

Madrid adopts IHRA antisemitism definition

The Madrid Assembly has formally adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of antisemitism, which will come as a blow to the prominent and widespread Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign in the region and Spain at large.
In the same motion adopting the IHRA definition, the assembly also called on the national parliament to pass legislation that would deny public funding to organizations that promote antisemitic hatred as defined by IHRA.

Retail giant Gap acquires Israeli AI analytics company CB4

US apparel giant Gap has acquired Israeli AI company CB4, a developer of predictive analytics tools that offer data-driven insights and recommendations for retail businesses like grocery and retail chains.

The agreement was announced late Monday. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed but Israeli business daily Calcalist estimated the deal at approximately $150 million.

Israeli professor elected president of Europe’s nuclear research organization CERN

Israel’s Prof. Eliezer Rabinovici was on Friday elected as the 24th president of the council of CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research.

Rabinovici is a professor at the Racah Institute of Physics of the Hebrew University who has served on the council for years. He replaces Ursula Bassler as head of the council, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The panel represents the 23 member states, governs the organization and oversees major decisions including programs and budgets.

    The entire list is noteworthy — and the technology and medical fails in particular, show the depraved indifference to human life, pain and suffering of a BDS campaign that would directly harm the medical breakthroughs, for example.
