BBC NEWS COVERAGE OF TERRORISM IN ISRAEL – FEBRUARY 2023

The Israel Security Agency’s report on terror attacks during February 2023 shows that throughout the month a total of 200 incidents took place: 157 in Judea & Samaria, 38 in Jerusalem and inside the ‘green line’ and five in the Gaza Strip sector.

In Judea & Samaria, Jerusalem and inside the ‘green line’ the agency recorded 117 attacks with petrol bombs, 44 attacks using pipe bombs, 18 shooting attacks, ten arson attacks, four stabbing attacks, one vehicular attack and one stoning attack (the ISA only records stoning attacks that result in moderate or serious injuries). In the Gaza Strip sector the five incidents included the launch of eight rockets and four cases of anti-aircraft fire.

Seven people were murdered and six people were wounded in attacks during February.

The vehicular attack in the Ramot neighbourhood of Jerusalem on February 10th in which three people were murdered and five injured was reported on the BBC News website that day. The third victim was briefly mentioned in a report on another topic published on February 13th. None of the victims was identified by name.

The death of a member of the security forces during a stabbing attack in Shuafat on February 13th and a stabbing attack in which a civilian was wounded earlier the same day in Jerusalem’s Old City were not reported by the BBC News website.

The shooting attack in Huwara on February 26th in which two brothers were murdered did not receive any stand-alone coverage on the BBC News website but was mentioned to one extent or another in five reports about other topics.

The shooting attack on Route 90 on February 27th in which an Israeli-American civilian was murdered did receive coverage.

Of the rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip which took place on February 1st– 2nd, February 11th, February 13th and February 23rd, only the latter was reported on the BBC News website over 12 hours later.

During the first two months of 2023 the BBC News website reported 2.2% of the terror attacks against Israelis which took place and 93% of the resulting fatalities.

    And it generally can’t bring itself to use the word ‘terrorists’. They’re ‘militants’, or ‘fighters’, ‘armed men’ or in the case of the car attack – simply ‘driver’.

    By embracing and glamorising terrorists as “militants”, the BBC is encouraging murders of Israeli civilians. It clearly has the blood of innocent people on its filthy hands.
