BBC NEWS COVERAGE OF TERRORISM IN ISRAEL – MARCH 2023

The Israel Security Agency’s report on terror attacks during March 2023 shows that throughout the month a total of 206 incidents took place: 183 in Judea & Samaria, 20 in Jerusalem and inside the ‘green line’ and three in the Gaza Strip sector.

In Judea & Samaria, Jerusalem and inside the ‘green line’ the agency recorded 140 attacks with petrol bombs, 38 attacks using pipe bombs, 18 shooting attacks, three arson attacks and two stabbing attacks. In the Gaza Strip sector two incidents of rocket fire and one attack using an IED were recorded.

One civilian was murdered and eight people were wounded in attacks during March.

One civilian was wounded in a drive-by shooting attack near Beit Hagai on March 3rd which did not receive any BBC News website coverage.

Three civilians were wounded – one of whom later died – in a shooting attack perpetrated by a Hamas terrorist in Tel Aviv on March 9th which was not reported by the BBC.

One civilian was wounded in a roadside bomb attack on Route 65 on March 13th which was reported on the BBC News website two days later.

Two civilians were wounded in a shooting attack in Huwara on March 19th which did not receive any BBC coverage.

Two members of the security forces were wounded in a shooting attack in Huwara on March 25th which got a brief one-sentence mention in a report on another topic published three days later.

Rocket attacks launched at civilian communities from the Gaza Strip on March 8th and March 18th did not receive any BBC News website coverage.

A shooting attack near Jit on March 12th was briefly referred to in a BBC report on another topic.

To summarise, just three of the 206 terror attacks which occurred during March were mentioned in BBC News website reports (two of which were about different topics) and that did not include the fatal attack in Tel Aviv.

Throughout the first quarter of 2023 the BBC News website reported 1.98% of the terror attacks which actually took place and 87% of the resulting fatalities.

With regard to BBC News website coverage of Israeli counter-terrorism operations, the corporation’s reporting continues to fail to adequately inform audiences how many of the Palestinian casualties were members of terrorist organisations and/or males involved in violence at the time.

Of the twenty-six Palestinian or Israeli Arab casualties during March, eight were killed while carrying out, or following, terror attacks. At least nineteen were affiliated with terrorist organisations.

It’s not what they say but how they say it. Half truths are the BBC’s speciality and it’s their opening statements, not exactly lies but a less than truthful analysis in a given situation that sways the minds of (Jewish ) listeners thus to diminish their support if Israel.
