BBC NEWS COVERAGE OF TERRORISM IN ISRAEL – JUNE 2024

The Israel Security Agency’s report on terror attacks during June 2024 shows that throughout the month a total of 398 incidents took place in Judea & Samaria, Jerusalem and within the ‘green line’. The agency recorded 54 attacks with petrol bombs, 43 attacks using pipe bombs, three attacks using IEDs, 264 incidents of rock throwing, eleven shooting attacks, 21 arson attacks and one stabbing attack.

57 attacks were thwarted throughout the month and 274 terror related arrests were made.

In addition, 205 missiles were launched into Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip and 855 missiles were launched from Lebanon or Syria throughout June. (The ISA report does not include casualties from attacks related to Operation Swords of Iron.)

Two people were killed and twenty-five were injured in attacks in Judea & Samaria, Jerusalem and inside the ‘green line’ during June.

On June 22nd a 67-year-old civilian was shot dead in his car in Qalqiliya. The BBC News website did not publish any reporting whatsoever on that murder.

A BBC News website report published the following day told audiences that:

“There has been a surge in violence in the West Bank since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip, triggered by Hamas’s deadly attack on southern Israel on 7 October.

The UN says at least 480 Palestinians – members of armed groups, attackers and civilians – have been killed in conflict-related incidents in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

Ten Israelis, including six security forces personnel, have also been killed in the West Bank.”

In fact, as of June 23rd – the date that report was published – eight civilians had been murdered in what the BBC chooses to call the West Bank during the stated time period, rather than four as implied by the BBC.

On June 27th a member of the security forces was killed and eighteen others wounded in two IED attacks during an arrest operation in Jenin. That incident was covered in a BBC News website report published on the same day which tells readers that:

“There has been a surge in violence in the West Bank since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip, which was triggered by Hamas’s deadly attack on southern Israel on 7 October.

The UN says 536 Palestinians – members of armed groups, attackers and civilians – had been killed as of Monday in conflict-related incidents across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. At least 519 have been killed by Israeli forces and 10 by Israeli settlers, it adds.

Twelve Israelis, including eight security forces personnel, had also been killed in the West Bank during the same period, according to the UN. Another eight Israelis had been killed in attacks by Palestinians from the West Bank.”

David Gritten’s portrayal of that information provided by UN OCHA again misrepresents the number of Israeli civilians murdered in Judea & Samaria since October 7th 2023 as four rather than eight. In addition, his portrayal of eight Israelis killed outside that geographical area relates only to those murdered “by Palestinians from the West Bank”, meaning that BBC audiences are not told that in fact eleven people have been killed in locations other than Judea & Samaria during that time period.

During the first half of 2024, the BBC News website reported 0.24% of the terror attacks which took place and 50% of the resulting fatalities.

I have NOT found on the BBC website any reference whatsoever to the Hezbollah rocked attack that killed Noa and Nir Barnes on Tuesday in a rocket strike on the Golan Heights, but notice with distain that the BBC web site is currently running web stories like “Israel military tells Gaza City residents to leave”, “Shock at hospital after Israeli strike on Gaza camp”, “Israeli air strike kills 29 people at Gaza camp for displaced” all in the last 24 hours.
They are really anti-Semites and show it by excluding Jewish Civilian deaths in such a callous fashion
