BBC NEWS COVERAGE OF TERRORISM IN ISRAEL – DECEMBER 2024 & YEAR END SUMMARY

The Israel Security Agency’s report on terror attacks during December 2024 shows that throughout the month a total of 479 incidents took place in Judea & Samaria, Jerusalem and within the ‘green line’. The agency recorded 48 attacks with petrol bombs, 48 attacks using pipe bombs, 329 incidents of rock throwing, nine shooting attacks, 36 arson attacks, four stabbing attacks, two vehicular attacks and three attacks using IEDs.

129 attacks were thwarted throughout the month and 289 terror related arrests were made.

In addition, the report records 71 missiles launched into Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip and 191 missiles launched from Lebanon or Syria throughout December. The ISA report does not include casualties from attacks related to Operation Swords of Iron or Operation Northern Arrows.

Two people were murdered and nineteen injured in attacks in Judea & Samaria, Jerusalem and inside the ‘green line’ during December.

On the night of December 11th a twelve-year-old boy was murdered and three others were injured in a shooting attack on a bus near the Tunnels Checkpoint. That attack was reported on the BBC News website the following day:

OMISSION AND FALSE EQUIVALENCE IN BBC REPORT ON TERROR ATTACK

On December 27th an 83-year-old female Holocaust survivor was murdered in a stabbing attack outside her assisted living facility in Herzliya. That attack did not receive any coverage on the BBC News website.

On December 7th a member of the security forces was seriously injured in a vehicular attack near Al Fawwar. On December 10th two members of the security forces were wounded in a stabbing attack in Karmiel and on the same day, a civilian was injured in a vehicular attack in Bnei Brak. On December 19th a 74-year-old woman was wounded in a stabbing attack at her home in Jerusalem. None of those incidents received coverage on the BBC News website.

Throughout the year of 2024 the BBC News website reported 0.4% of the terror attacks which took place in Judea & Samaria, Jerusalem and within the ‘green line’ and 70% of the resulting Israeli fatalities (not including Operation Swords of Iron or Operation Northern Arrows).

CAMERA UK has documented BBC News website coverage of terrorism against Israelis throughout the past decade (see ‘related articles’ below). In previous years, the ISA’s monthly reports included the Gaza Strip sector but the methodology was changed at the beginning of 2024 in light of the war.

Camera is doing a great job monitoring the lack of news published by the IPC (aka BBC) – just a shame that Camera’s reports (and its readers’ comments) only reach its own converted audience.
