Guardian corrects caption on released Israeli hostages

A Guardian video on Jan. 30 showing the release of 20-year-old Agam Berger erred in the caption, claiming that all three Israeli hostages released that day by the terrorist group were “soldiers”.

However, unlike Berger, the other two released hostages Arbel Yehoud, 29, and Gadi Moshe Mozes, 80, were civilians.

We complained to editors, and they corrected the error:

It’s important to note that this correction represents a rare exception to the outlet’s general unwillingness to hold their journalists and contributors accountable to the Accuracy clause of the Editors’ Code.  The Guardian is, by far, the least responsive outlet when it comes to responding to our complaints – a fact that’s not at all surprising given that their coverage since the Oct. 7th massacre has been effectively pro-Hamas.

To be fair one has to appreciate that in Britain we are currently holding 86000 hostages in our prisons for such minor infractions as murder, treason, rape and arson. Although admittedly a few of these hostages have been found guilty of the very much more serious offence of inflammatory language on social media platforms.
