1) The Long War Journal presents a report titled ‘Gaza doctor widely quoted by major media outlets has deep Hamas ties’ by Joe Truzman and Ahmad Sharawi. Those major media outlets have included the BBC.
“A Gaza-based doctor who is frequently quoted by major media outlets on the impacts of Hamas’s war with Israel has close familial ties to the terrorist group. Numerous family members of orthopedic surgeon Dr. Fadel Naim are or were Hamas members, including a son and nephew who were killed by the Israeli military and a brother who is Hamas leader Basem Naim, according to an analysis of open-source data conducted by FDD’s Long War Journal.”
2) At the JISS, Ari Heistein discusses ‘Houthi Expansion to the Horn of Africa’.
“Recent reports from the U.S. intelligence community and other sources indicate that Houthi activity along the Horn of Africa is increasing. The northeastern tip of the African continent has long been a hub for trafficking and piracy, but emerging Houthi-al-Shabaab cooperation presents a growing threat to regional stability. This partnership highlights the risk of Sanaa’s collaboration with criminal and terrorist organizations beyond Yemen and, over time, could serve as a model for future Houthi activities abroad.”
3) The FDD reports on ‘Advanced Weapons for Houthis Intercepted at Oman-Yemen Border’.
“Since 2015, Oman has served as a key transit route for weapons destined for the Houthis. In 2017, drones used by the Houthis entered Yemen via Oman. A year later, the United Nations reported that Iranian Burkan-2H missiles were smuggled into Yemen through Omani territory. Last year, Yemeni authorities intercepted advanced military equipment — including drone-support systems and radar-jamming devices at the Sarfayt crossing in al-Mahra province.
Oman also provides a safe haven for Houthi officials, allowing them to operate freely under the regime’s protection in Muscat.”
4) NGO Monitor reports on ‘Funding for Terror-Linked NGOs through US-Registered Charities and Financial Service-Providers’.
“Terror-linked organizations – including groups with ties to US-designated terrorist groups Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) – are raising funds in the United States. These NGOs receive donations in the US from tax-exempt 501c3 charities, as well as through donor-advised and financial service providers. Others use US-based companies to process donations.”
5) On Thursday April 3rd, the UKLFI Charitable Trust will hold a webinar titled ‘Did Israel Starve Gaza Civilians?’ with Professor Aron Troen and Professor Dorit Nitzan.
“The allegation that Israel starved Gaza civilians is central to cases against Israel and its leaders in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC), as well as in the Court of Public Opinion.
In the ICJ, it was the main focus of the Provisional Measures Orders of 26 January and 28 March 2024 in South Africa’s claim of genocide. In the ICC, it was the primary allegation in the Prosecutor’s public summary of the grounds of his application for arrest warrants filed on 20 May 2024.
The speakers in this webinar are leading Israeli experts on nutrition and co-authors (with others) of a peer-reviewed published paper that analysed the food supplied to Gaza between January and July 2024.”
