In our discussion of BBC promotion of a narrative concerning an alleged fatal incident near Rafah on June 1st, we noted that:
“A particularly significant aspect of the BBC’s copious cross-platform reporting on this story is its portrayal of the new GHF aid distribution scheme, which in previous reporting it has repeatedly described as “controversial”. In one of the BBC’s June 1st televised reports Sebastian Usher told viewers that:
“…the issue around this new mechanism of distributing aid through this group the Gaza Humanitarian Fund [sic] has again been put into question by these incidents…”
That, of course, is precisely the narrative that Hamas is trying to promote given that the GHF scheme has undermined its control over – and income from – humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip.”
BBC PROMOTION OF THE RAFAH INCIDENT THAT WASN’T
In fact, since the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation entered the picture – and even before it started functioning – visitors to the BBC News website have repeatedly seen monochrome framing of that organisation as “controversial” placed together with one-sided statements from assorted UN officials and uniform, unquestioning promotion of Hamas denials of aid theft.
Ten examples of that editorial policy published on the BBC News website in the ten days preceding BBC coverage of the June 1st alleged incident can be found below: [emphasis added]
1 “Head of controversial Israel-backed Gaza aid group resigns” Tom Bennett, 26/5/25
“The head of an organisation set up to distribute aid in Gaza as part of a controversial Israel-backed plan has resigned, saying it could not work in a way that adhered to “humanitarian principles”.
Jake Wood quit the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) late on Sunday, saying it would not be able to fulfil the principles of “humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence”.
The plan, also backed by the US, will have private contractors delivering aid via Israel-designated distribution sites. It was criticised by the UN, which says it will not participate. […]
Israel insists the plan is needed to stop Hamas stealing aid, which the armed group denies doing.
UN aid chief Tom Fletcher said it would force further displacement, restrict aid to only one part of Gaza and make “starvation a bargaining chip. […]
Jan Egeland, Secretary General of the Norwegian Refugee Council, told the BBC’s Today Programme that the GHF is “militarised, privatised, politicised” and “not in conformity with neutrality”.
“The people behind it are military – they are ex-CIA and ex-military people… Let’s go back to the system that worked” he said.”
2 “Controversial US-backed group says it has begun aid distribution in Gaza” David Gritten, 27/5/25
“A controversial new aid distribution group backed by the US and Israel has begun working in Gaza.
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation said lorry loads of food had been delivered to secure sites on Monday and that distribution had begun. Hundreds of Palestinians collected food parcels from a site in southern city of Rafah on Tuesday.
The GHF, which uses armed American security contractors, aims to bypass the UN as the main supplier of aid to the 2.1 million people in Gaza, where experts have warned of a looming famine after an 11-week Israeli blockade that was recently eased.
A UN spokesman said the operation was a “distraction from what is actually needed” and urged Israel to reopen all crossings.
The UN and many aid groups have refused to co-operate with GHF’s plans, which they say contradict humanitarian principles and appear to “weaponise aid”.
They have warned that the system will practically exclude those with mobility issues, force further displacement, expose thousands of people to harm, make aid conditional on political and military aims, and set an unacceptable precedent for aid delivery around the world.
Israel says an alternative to the current aid system is needed to stop Hamas stealing aid, which the group denies doing.”
3 “Crowds overrun US-backed group’s new aid distribution site in Gaza” David Gritten, 27/5/25
“Thousands of Palestinians have overrun an aid distribution site in Gaza set up by a controversial US and Israeli-backed group, a day after it began working there. […]
Israel has said an alternative to the current aid system is needed to stop Hamas stealing aid, which the group denies doing.”
4 “Dozens injured by Israeli gunfire as crowds overwhelmed Gaza aid site, UN says” David Gritten, 28/5/25
“The UN Human Rights Office has said it believes 47 people were injured in Gaza on Tuesday when crowds overwhelmed an aid distribution centre run by a controversial new group backed by the US and Israel.
A senior official said the UN was still gathering information but that most of the injuries were due to gunshots and that “it was shooting from the IDF [Israel Defense Forces]”.
Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry said one person was killed and 48 others were wounded. […]
The GHF’s aid system uses US security contractors and bypasses the UN, which says it is unworkable and unethical.
The US and Israeli governments have said it is preventing aid from being stolen by Hamas, which the armed group denies doing. […]
The UN and other established aid agencies have refused to co-operate with the GHF, arguing that its operation does not comply with the humanitarian principles of neutrality and impartiality.
They have said they have tonnes of supplies ready to enter Gaza, and a detailed plan to distribute them that minimises looting.
Gaza’s Hamas-run Government Media Office said Israel’s efforts to distribute aid had “failed miserably”.”
5 “Gaza warehouse broken into by ‘hordes of hungry people’, says WFP” Barbara Plett Usher, Emma Rossiter and Yolande Knell, 29/5/25
“A controversial US and Israeli-backed group – the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) – was also established as a private aid distribution system. It uses US security contractors and bypasses the UN, which said it was unworkable and unethical.
The US and Israeli governments say the GHF, which has set up four distribution centres in southern and central Gaza, is preventing aid from being stolen by Hamas, which the armed group denies doing.”
That report includes a graphic also seen in other items.
6 “BBC Verify examines footage of chaos at aid site in Gaza” BBC Verify, 29/5/25
“The UN Human Rights Office has said it believes 47 people were injured in Gaza on Tuesday when crowds overwhelmed an aid distribution centre run by a controversial US and Israeli-backed group.
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation uses American security contractors and aims to bypass the UN as the main supplier of aid in Gaza.
BBC Verify’s Merlyn Thomas has been examining footage and details about the chaos that unfolded at one of the sites in the city of Rafah in southern Gaza.”
7 “Security breaks down in Gaza as desperate people search for food” Rushdi Abualouf and Alys Davies, 29/5/25
“The GHF’s new aid system bypasses the UN and requires Palestinians to collect food parcels from distribution sites protected by US security contractors in areas controlled by the Israeli military in southern and central Gaza.
The UN has refused to co-operate with the system, saying it is unethical and unworkable.
The head of the UN’s humanitarian office in Gaza, Jonathan Whittall, said on Wednesday that GHF could not possibly meet the needs of the 2.1 million population and was “essentially engineering scarcity”.
The US and Israeli governments have said the new system is preventing aid from being stolen by Hamas, which the armed group denies doing.”
8 “Last hospital in North Gaza governorate evacuated after Israeli order” Mallory Moench, 30/5/25
“Scenes of chaos have broken out at aid distribution centres run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) – a US and Israeli-backed group.
The UN and many aid groups have refused to co-operate with the GHF’s plans, which they say contradict humanitarian principles.
The head of Doctors Without Borders (MSF), Christopher Lockyear, called the plan “ineffective” and said the most vulnerable have “virtually no chance” of accessing supplies.
GHF said it had distributed six truckloads of food on Friday and plans to build additional sites, including in northern Gaza, in the weeks ahead.
Israel said it imposed the blockade on Gaza to pressurise Hamas to release the remaining hostages, at least 20 of whom are believed to be alive. It has also accused Hamas of stealing aid, which the group denies.”
9 “How controversial US-Israeli backed Gaza aid plan turned to chaos” BBC Verify, 31/5/25
“This was the disorderly start to a controversial new aid distribution scheme operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a newly created body backed by the US and Israel. […]
The foundation, which uses armed American security contractors, aims to bypass the UN as the main supplier of aid in Gaza. It has been roundly condemned and boycotted by aid agencies and the UN. But Israel has said an alternative to the existing aid system was needed to stop Hamas stealing aid, which the group denies doing.”
10 “Gaza aid trucks rushed by desperate and hungry crowds, WFP says” Mallory Moench, 31/5/25
“Separately, a new US and Israel-backed organisation has also been distributing food at designated sites across Gaza. Israel set up the plan after accusing Hamas of stealing aid, which the group denies.
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation said it distributed two million meals this week, which the BBC has not been able to independently verify. […]
The UN has refused to work with the operation, saying it contradicts humanitarian principles.”
The BBC’s chosen editorial stance on the issue of an aid distribution scheme that bypasses a proscribed terrorist organisation and reduces its control over the civilian population is therefore amply clear.

The BBC is the world’s largest purveyor of Anti – Semitism!
Its constant attacks on Israel and only Israel compared with any other world conflict bear this out that there is an axe to grind against Jews and Israel.
It is time the UK Jewish Communal leaders, both, religious and lay, openly declared it was time to change this wicked evil narrative.
Note reports by Arafat loving Barbara Plett- Usher – can one believe such a evil women?
I quite agree Sid, the truth is
The BBC News = Hamas = Hezbollah = the Houthis = The UN = UNWRA = Iran = IRGC = Qatar = Al Jazeera = Sky news UK = Channel 4 News. All riddled with the same terminal cancer
