Guardian corrects false Iranian death toll claim

An entry at the Guardian’s June 29 Middle East Live page, edited by Yohannes Lowe, erred in reporting that, during the 12-day war with Iran, Israeli airstrikes killed at least 627 civilians.

However, as we noted in a complaint to editors, that “627” figure represents the total number of Iranians reportedly killed during the war, both combatants and non-combatants”, a fact widely reported throughout the international media.

Our complaint was upheld, and the sentence corrected.
