Thank you for naming the area by its real name, Judea & Samaria, Jerusalem rather than west bank (I refuse to follow predictive text to capitalise!). Words matter. The continued use by media, polititions unfortunately including Israeli politicians of invented terms that perpetuate a false narrative is insidious and very damaging. Even the most unaware and disinterested members of the general public will have heard of the “west bank” but not Judea & Samaria. The other term, quite apart from its political meaning, is purely descriptive (and not a very good one at that). It’s no different to the term “the south bank” or “west end” in London. It is not a proper noun. Historians, geographers and cartographers have for millennia referred to Judea & Samaria. It’s taken terrorists and political ideologues only some fifty years or so to erase a major part of the State of Israel. We should not take part in the furtherance of this erasure. Other newly emerging countries have had there wishes for name changes respected. And even a country like China has its change from Peking to Beijing respected. So why can’t a name that has not even changed be respected?
