Back in February 2024 we documented the uncritical amplification of unverified claims made by the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) that appeared in two reports by the BBC Jerusalem bureau’s Lucy Williamson – “Israel-Gaza war: Unknown fate of six-year-old Hind Rajab trapped under fire” (February 5th 2024) and “Hind Rajab, 6, found dead in Gaza days after phone calls for help” (February 10th 2024).
BBC NEWS AGAIN PROMOTES UNEVIDENCED PRCS ALLEGATIONS
As we noted at the time:
“Williamson’s report continues with accounts from the PRCS call centre operator in Ramallah and the child’s mother. Notably, the PRCS – which is obviously one of the main sources of this story – had already decided on the evening of January 29th that the vehicle has been “fired upon by the occupation forces” despite the absence of any forensic evidence to prove that claim.”
Hind Rajab’s death was also covered by additional media outlets and became one of the biggest stories of the war. A Tunisian filmmaker’s docudrama based on the story was also covered by the BBC in articles promoting links to Williamson’s second report.
“Film about Gaza child’s killing gets record ovation at Venice” Paul Glynn, September 4th 2025
“Director Kaouther Ben Hania’s re-enactment tells the story of six-year-old Hind Rajab, who was killed along with her cousins, aunt, uncle and two paramedics who had come to their aid after their car was fired on by Israeli forces in Gaza City in January 2024. […]
Actress Saja Kilani told journalists: “Enough of the mass killing, the starvation, the dehumanisation, the destruction, and the ongoing occupation.”
She added: “This film is not an opinion or a fantasy. It is anchored in truth. Hind’s story carries the weight of an entire people. Her voice is one amongst tens of thousands of children that were killed in Gaza in the last two years alone. It is the voice of every daughter and every son with the right to live, to dream, to exist in dignity. Yet all of it was stolen in front of our unblinking eyes.”” [emphasis added]
“The Voice of Hind Rajab review: The docudrama about a Gaza tragedy leaving audiences ‘distraught’” Nicholas Barber, September 6th 2025
“An innovative hybrid of drama and documentary, it recounts the heart-shattering story of Hind Rajab, a six-year-old Palestinian girl who was killed in the Israel-Gaza war in January 2024.”
In September 2024 that six-year-old Palestinian girl’s name was also used to set up a terror-linked NGO – ‘The Hind Rajab Foundation’ – which uses lawfare to target Israeli soldiers and others.
Given the obviously high profile of Hind Rajab’s story, one might have thought that at sometime during the past twenty months, the BBC would have made the effort to verify the version of it promoted by Lucy Williamson. That has not been the case.
Data analyst Mark Zlochin has however done just that and his findings make very interesting reading.
“What began as a fog-of-war tragedy soon evolved into one of the most emblematic stories of the Gaza war. Within weeks, major outlets — Al Jazeera, the BBC, The Washington Post, and Sky News — published reconstructions that turned a chaotic battlefield episode into a tale of deliberate execution.”

BBC are too busy digging up more muck to bother to correct – it still concentrates on instilling anti Israel to its viewers, listeners and readers
