A May 26 Guardian article (“Appeals court temporarily blocks re-detention of Mahmoud Khalil”) included the following about Mahmoud Khalil, the extremist anti-Israel activist who justified the Oct. 7 massacre.
The case of Khalil, a Palestine-born recent Columbia University graduate, has become a flashpoint across the US over free speech and the Donald Trump administration’s crackdown on pro-Palestinian activism across US campuses.
However, as we noted to editors in our complaint, the Guardian and other major outlets have correctly reported previously that Khalil was in fact born in Syria, not “Palestine”.
Our complaint was upheld, and the sentence amended:
