BBC NEWS COVERAGE OF TERRORISM IN ISRAEL – JULY 2024

The Israel Security Agency’s report on terror attacks during July 2024 shows that throughout the month a total of 500 incidents took place in Judea & Samaria, Jerusalem and within the ‘green line’. The agency recorded 69 attacks with petrol bombs, 35 attacks using pipe bombs, three attacks using IEDs, 343 incidents of rock throwing, fifteen shooting attacks, 29 arson attacks, four stabbing attacks and one vehicular attack.

53 attacks were thwarted throughout the month and 288 terror related arrests were made.

In addition, 216 missiles were launched into Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip and 1,091 missiles were launched from Lebanon or Syria throughout July. (The ISA report does not include casualties from attacks related to Operation Swords of Iron.)

Three people were killed and twenty-seven were injured in attacks in Judea & Samaria, Jerusalem and inside the ‘green line’ during July.

On July 1st a member of the security forces was killed in an IED attack in Nur Shams which was claimed by the PIJ. That attack was not reported on the BBC News website.

On July 3rd an off-duty member of the security forces was killed and another injured in a stabbing attack in Carmiel which did receive BBC coverage.

On July 14th four members of the security forces were injured in a vehicular attack at Nir Tzvi Junction, one of whom died several days later. That attack was not reported on the BBC News website.

Additional incidents not covered by the BBC include the following:

On July 2nd a civilian was injured in a shooting attack in Mitzpe Yosef. On July 16th three civilians – an adult and two minors – were injured in a shooting attack on their vehicle at the Ramin Junction which was later claimed by Hamas. On July 18th two off-duty soldiers and two civilians were wounded in an IED attack near Hermesh. On July 25th three members of the security forces were injured in a shooting attack near Nabi Elias. A civilian was wounded in a shooting and stabbing attack near Beit Einun on July 31st which was claimed by Hamas.

During the first seven months of 2024, the BBC News website reported 0.23% of the terror attacks which took place and 47.6% of the resulting fatalities.
