The Gilad Shalit tent, where supporters and Shalit family members set up outside the Prime Minister’s residence in Jerusalem, is a ten minute walk from my apartment and serves as a constant reminder of the cruelty of Gilad’s captivity by Hamas, which now has lasted 1752 days.
In addition to the fact that Hamas has illegally denied Gilad a visit by the Red Cross, “humanitarian” NGOs and human rights groups have been remarkably silent about the fate of this 24-year-old Israeli.
In response to the continued indifference by the international community, a new initiative called MeetGilad has been launched to send messages to Gilad Shalit and keep the issue alive.
CiF Watch joined the initiative as an organization, so you can write your message to Gilad Shalit here. We hope to get 100 messages from readers of this blog.
After you write your message you can write to the Red Cross, UN, EU , and NGOs to pressure the Gaza government to allow messages to be sent to Shalit. You can also write to Shalit’s family with words of support.
Also, here’s the main Free Gilad site.
