BBC NEWS COVERAGE OF TERRORISM IN ISRAEL – JANUARY 2024

The Israel Security Agency’s report on terror attacks during January 2024 shows that throughout the month a total of 515 incidents took place in Judea & Samaria, Jerusalem and within the ‘green line’. The agency recorded 79 attacks with petrol bombs, 61 attacks using pipe bombs, 337 incidents of rock throwing,14 shooting attacks, 19 arson attacks, two stabbing attacks and three vehicular attacks.

In Judea & Samaria,139 significant attacks were thwarted throughout the month.

In addition, 357 missiles were launched into Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip and 334 missiles were launched from Lebanon or Syria. (The ISA report does not include casualties from attacks related to Operation Swords of Iron.)

Four people were killed and 41 were injured in attacks in Judea & Samaria, Jerusalem and inside the ‘green line’ during January.

One member of the security forces was killed and three injured in a roadside bomb attack during a counter-terrorism operation in Jenin on January 7th. The BBC News website did not produce any stand alone reporting on that incident at the time but it was mentioned in a report by Lucy Williamson published ten days later:

Also on January 7th, a shooting attack took place on Route 465 near Ofra. One civilian – Amar Mansour, from Jerusalem – was murdered in that attack and another who was badly injured in the same incident – Dr Lara Tannous, from Jerusalem – died of her wounds on January 24th. The BBC News website did not produce any reporting on that attack.

On January 15th the BBC News website reported a combined vehicular and stabbing attack in Ra’anana in which a 79-year-old female civilian was murdered and seventeen others were wounded:

BBC NEWS REPORTING ON THE RA’ANANA TERROR ATTACK

Two civilians were injured during a rock-throwing attack on a passenger bus on January 11th. A member of the security forces was wounded during an attempted infiltration into the community of Adora on January 12th. On January 29th a member of the security forces was seriously injured in a vehicular attack in Haifa. None of those incidents was reported on the BBC News website.
