BBC News inaccurate on geography of Hamas terror attacks

One of the entries on the BBC News website’s live pages covering the Hamas invasion and massacres of Israeli citizens on October 7th reads as follows:

Not only was the Supernova festival not held at that location but Kibbutz Urim (established in 1946) is not “a suburb of the city of Ofakim” (established in 1955): it is a separate community nearly thirteen kilometres away.

On October 8th the BBC News website published a report by Alys Davies titled ‘What we know about Israeli hostages taken by Hamas’ in which the same geographical error was repeated in a different context:

Contrary to Davies’ claim, that incident took place in Ofakim rather than in Kibbutz Urim, with the Kan 11 report reading as follows:

Davies also managed to invent yet another “suburb of Ofakim”:

While the Supernova festival did indeed take place near – not “in” – that location, Kibbutz Re’im (founded in 1949) is a community in its own right over 21 kilometres away, rather than “a suburb in the city of Ofakim”.

As we see, BBC journalists’ reporting on the Hamas terror attacks in southern Israel apparently did not include the use of Google maps.

Also in that report Davies tells readers that:

“A video verified by the BBC shows militants in Be’eri leading barefooted people along a street.”

As we noted in a previous post about a BBC Verify report published on the same day which mentions the same video, the four civilians from Kibbutz Be’eri appearing in that “footage…verified by the BBC” were murdered a short time after it was filmed.

Neither of the BBC News website’s two reports has yet been updated to include that information.

Accuracy, impartiality and common sense are three ingredients that the BBC miss out of their 24 hour Islamist drip feed of their UK and world audiences, Islamists don’t mind, but the rest of the UK and world are fed up of getting indigestion which the UK are forced to pay for. #defundthebbc
