In a CiF essay by Cherie Blair, entitled, “Iran is attempting to decapitate its Bahai Community” (Aug. 25), there were quite a few shameful comments below the post rationalizing, if not outright defending, the Iranian regime’s systemic oppression of the Bahai. However, there was also this unambiguous critique of the theocratic Iranian regime:

Apparently, characterizing the Iranian regime’s persecution of their religious minorities (not to mention the denial of basic political freedoms to the rest of their citizens) as “evil” is unacceptable speech at Comment is Free.
